the height and profile of rock berms placed along the cable route during installation works. A further, more-detailed survey will follow using an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) to allow visual inspection and provide higher resolution in deep water. This is a commercial inspection survey, following on from previously successful work for SSE, and will hopefully lead to more regular, routine survey contracts. Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) commissioned us to undertake a multibeam and side-scan sonar survey using the White Ribbon at numerous target areas throughout the South Arran Marine Protected Area (MPA). The aim was to establish baseline mapping of the sea bed (examining habitat heterogeneity and fisheries marks) within the target areas, prior to the implementation of new management measures. Full-coverage, multibeam survey data was collected to International Hydrographic Office (IHO) Order 1a specification in each of the target areas and a full suite of bathymetric and backscatter data produced.
